Palma Nova is a favourite and attractive Mallorca holiday resort for many.
It's tourist operator country with hotels and
virtually no private accommodation owners with apartments to rent. The beach is divided into three bays and the resort has a spacious and uncluttered atmosphere.
It's conveniently situated around 20 minutes or so from Palma and well served by the bus that goes around the coast. It has great tourist shops, some on the risque side with, for instance, brilliantly attractive towels adorned with a naked Pamela Anderson looking image . . . Swimming is often possible here right out of season, until November at least and whilst in February most only paddle, the sun is warm and sunbathing on the sand or a lilo on the beach is still a pleasure.
The beach is brilliant, south facing and extensive with areas of palms for summer shade
and, although there is a McDonalds in the middle of the promenade (says it all, doesn't it?) provided you don't walk too far west into Torre Nova and Magalluf, you won't meet too much beer and chips culture. The good thing about this place as a resort is that whilst many resort facilities in Mallorca
such as Cales de Mallorca are completely closed in Winter, Palma Nova carries quietly on through the off-season.
One gets the feeling that Summer brings a lot of noise, and then a quiet villa with pool inland such as at Algaida, or Sineu, or a quiet resort such as San Telm or an apartment on the beach at Cala Ferrera might really be the place to go.
